Seeped in elegance and history and with a breathtaking Lake District backdrop, Holbeck Ghyll is a truly magical wedding venue set in 18 acres of landscaped grounds with luxury accommodation. Our impeccable service, exquisite food and elegantly-appointed rooms with Arts and Crafts features have earned us an enviable reputation and a clutch of top awards yet we are proud to retain an informal atmosphere so all your guests will feel at home.

From the moment you step into our oak-panelled entrance hall with its inglenook fireplace, a magical sense of history surrounds you and you will find our dedicated Weddings team on hand at all times to ensure every tiny detail is taken care of – whether you want your special wedding day to be simple and private, or lavish and glamorous. Our team’s expertise is brought together by Andrew McPherson who, together with his staff, has planned numerous exclusive weddings and events – from high profile occasions such as the wedding of Madonna and Guy Ritchie to smaller, intimate ceremonies for two.

As well as offering luxurious, private accommodation within the hotel grounds to ensure bride and groom abide by tradition and keep their distance the evening before, the house and our exclusive lodge suites are available to hire as your exclusive wedding venue, here in the Lake District.

We work with a team of professional wedding photographers, hair stylists, make-up artists and beauty therapists to capture every special moment and ensure the bridal party is looking their very best. From simple string quartets in the drawing room, to magnificent five piece bands in a grand marquee on the front lawn, we can also organise every kind of entertainment too, leaving you to relax and enjoy the build-up. Our philosophy is to take your dream and help you plan, prepare and deliver you wedding requirements, so that at Holbeck Ghyll your wedding dream is brought to life. The hotel also makes the perfect place to propose – so much so that a number of guests have popped the question quite by accident, after soaking up the romance of the place.
